Here's my Groom...........

This is the block I'm going to use for my groom. I drew him him up from photographs from Margaret, although I just noticed that I might need something in his other hand.

What I'm going to do is pick out my least favourite block and leave it out, I'll have to do a little re-arranging of blocks and rows! I thought that I would put the Bride on the first row and make her block 2. Then the table and flowers block in the middle (block 3), then the Groom as block 4. I'm just one of these people that has to have symmetry so I had to work out how to balance the bride and groom blocks.

If any one wants a copy of the groom, let me know and I'll email it as a PDF. I still haven't been able to find any reference (except for the newspaper templates) of where Margaret's groom came from.

I'm off to cut out the pattern pieces for him, hope to have him done for the weekend. I think the peacock block might be the one I drop out of the quilt, I'm really not enjoying stitching it!!

  5. Looks great, Lizzie! I wouldn't be surprised if Susi is right about it being from Ellie Sienkiewicz. I took a class from my LNS and got all my patterns from them so I don't know for sure where they're from. They've since closed, sadly. :( I'd love the pattern too. :D

  11. Thanks everyone for the input, I think I'm just going to put the flower vine over his hand -as popular opinion :o) - and I should be able to get him scanned and converted sometime today (after supermarket shopping, I guess we have to eat) so will get him off to everyone that wants a handsome man!!
    Have a good weekend all,

  16. Lizzie...you are fantastic! I would love a copy of the pdf! I love all the personal touches...it's great to make the quilt "your own". Also if you wouldn't mind sharing your technique of applique preparation...you must have some "fast" tips...I would love to know if you don't mind sharing! I can't believe the speed you are going at this quilt!

  19. Hi Lizzie,

I've just started this quilt and completed block #5 as my very first hand applique needleturn project.

I also would be interested in your pattern for the handsome groom. I was going to print a picture of my hubby & I on our wedding day and use that instead of the bride but I so love your groom block.

    Thank you!
