Block number 9

Block number 9 is my fifth block for Civil War Bride.
The blocks are all so excited, it is hard to decide which one to do next.
I chose this one because of the tail. I appliqué each feather instead of piecing.
I could have paper pieced the tail, but I didn't think of it until afterwards.
And I embroidered the beak, it looks a little funny - but it will do.

  1. Paula, that is so beautiful! This is my next block to start. I love your colours. I'm not sure what colour I will use on my bird - Hugs Nat

  4. Paula, Love that red fabric, it is a beautiful Bird of Paridise. I have been a little intimidated by that tail, but I am going to get brave and do that block after the one I am currently working on.

    Happy Stitching,

  5. What a charming quilt! If I had the right stash, I'd jump in and give it a try! Like you, I might spend most of my day contemplating which block to sew next! Such a burden! ;-)))) Just beautiful!
