The Elephant, The horses

Just thought the interesting thing about the elephant is that when he died his bones went to the medical school in Chicago. The medical school was closed down and nobody knows where the bones are. The quilt has a few faded sections on the right hand side of the border. It is under glass or perspex. A joy to see the original. The horses on the original quilt border are the next on the list for the curator to research. Kerry

  1. How lucky you are to get to visit the Museum and see the original. I find it fascinating to read the details, and wonder how one goes about researching things like the elephant, and the horses. Such a shame not to know the backstory on the quiltmaker. Labels, guys, labels. Michele

  2. ALWAYS glad to see pictures and hear more history about this fabulous quilt top!!

    In stitches,
    Teresa :o)

  3. Has anyone done a pattern of the horses shown in the original quilt top? I would like to put some of the original birds/animals in my border.

Thanks to everyone that is following our journey with the Civil War Bride Quilt. We love to read your comments and appreciate your encouragement...............
