Progress

I decided to take a picture of my progress to date I started on October 15th and have completed 5 blocks. I like the overall look. I went out on the limb with my background and glad I did. I got my left and right border vines on. Now I have decided it has to be hung when finished.

  1. I really love that background. Is it a batik? Tell us about that fabric.

  2. I am glad you are taking pictures along the way, because then you can appreciate each block as you go, but you can show off your beautiful work!!! What a master piece this will be. I want to make one sometimes, but don't know if I have the patience. I haven't noticed if you are doing needle turn or applique? Whatever it is great!

  5. Joyce the back ground fabric is a cotton from Baum textiles a line called tavern signs, it supposed to look like an old weather worn sign from the 1800's. I got it on sale I could not pass up!

  7. Yes, but being unemployed helps. I find these blocks like a good book I just can't put it down! I work on them in front of the TV at night and they are a good take along project.

I have a no fuss method that is perfect for these blocks since they are so organic. If you are type A personality this is not for you:).

I make a xerox of the pattern to cut up I cut out the piece I am going to applique, trace it on my fabric and glue in place then needle turn. I do prepare the background with a few key registration marks so I know where things should go approximately . I then eye ball it. I do not get hung up on perfection just keep it moving...if I end up with a few less leaves then so be it if I end up with extra space I'll add an extra leaf or what ever fits.
