Blocks 6 & 7

Finished blocks 6 and 7. Made a huge error with block 6, can you spot it? A hint: look at the loose lila leaves left and right. Yep I made a mirror image! Don't know how it happened, stitching the leaves and flowers on it felt strange, why don't they fit exactly? I decided to leave it as it is, I hope there are more of you making mistakes and even an unperfect quilt can be my beautiful quilt.
Block 7 was heaven to create, I did not bother about hens or male birds, just chose the fabric I liked. The butterfly is half stitched.
The European/Dutch weather is beautiful for quilting, still a mild night frost. So we are quilting on ....

  1. Oh my goodness...I think these are my very favorite birds of all so far! I LOVE the fabrics you chose and the eyes and head feathers are just perfect!! That stripey section is so cool! And is that broderie perse you did for the fruits?!? How perfect! Is the mistake the fact that the leaves are close to the block stitching line? No biggee! Still beautiful! She does try to cram a lot on some of the blocks, doesn't she?

    In stitches,

  3. Ineke,
First, I also love the peacocks. Their striped tail feathers and those lovely eyes are wonderful and great fun. Good job with those.

Second, I would have never realized that you did the flowers in their mirror image without you saying it! I had to go and get my pattern to check it out for myself. No one will notice once the quilt is finished, I guarantee it. And most of us (if not all of us) wouldn't have noticed now without you mentioning it. And bottom line ... they look great just as they are! So, stop thinking "huge error" and enjoy the fact that you have finished two more fantastic blocks!

  4. Your work is beautiful! I love that you are using a blanket stitch, it really adds to the blocks. What width and length settings are you using on your blanket stitch?

  6. Ineke,
Great peacocks! Like everyone else I LOVE the tailfeathers. Please stop stressing about the "mistakes" in the long run no one will ever notice, except you and the quilt police and I'm sure that they don't know where Tilburg is, let alone find your house! Great job.

  7. Thank you for your lovely comments, can't take all te credits for the eyes, looked at other eyes here on the blog and made a mix between the ones from Linda's and Teresa's. So now you know my secret!
And Anonymous I use the standard blanket stitch 2,5 by 2.5, I think those are millimeters.
