Counting down on the blocks ...

Well, this block getting completed means I have only two more blocks to go before the interior of the quilt is done. Then it's on to the borders. This block was fun and easy to do. I find I am partial to the ostrich on the right, but I do like the way the two blocks work together on the left side bird. And once again, wool came to my rescue for those darn toes.

  1. Good evening Judye, I just started the computer to have a look how other brides have made this block. And what a surprise you were working on this block as well this weekend. You have given your birds something to stand on, I was thinking aubout that, maybe it is in the pattern and I just did not see it. Two more to go, we are going to make it! Enjoy your last two blocks, I know I will. And congratulations with your beautiful ostriches.

  3. One of my favorite blocks in the quilt, and yours is just beautiful. Great fabrics and colors. I wanted to let you know I am up to quilting the borders on my bride and your sister's suggestion of sewing a ribbon around the edge is working like a charm! It is really holding it's shape, no stretching or waffling. Thank You for the great tip.

  7. Hi Judye,
Great birds, love the right one, I guess it's the contrasting color that makes it interesting.
Have fun with the rest of the blocks. And then it's border time.

  8. Maybe it's the contrast on the right one that draws you to it more. They both look great though. Congrats that you only have two more to go.

  9. Judye, both your birds are amazing. The contrast in the right one is wonderful. But not every ostrich is a "peacock" and the black on black one is very lovely also.

Congrats on a job well done.

It was seeing this block here that made me buy the pattern.
