Civil War Bride Quilt Winner

I finished my Civil War Bride Quilt and entered it in the Arizona Quilt Guild Show in March. It won a second place ribbon and a major award for explemarly hand quilting. I am so proud. It also appraised for $6,000.00. It was fun doing but glad it's done.

  5. Oh Janice, congratulations, and it was even more beautiful in person! I was sitting behind you at the awards ceremony when you heard the great news that your quilt had won and told you how lovely it was afterwards. I've been working on this quilt too but have gotten stalled. It was so nice to see such a wonderful finished one at the AZ Quilt Show.

  7. Janice, your quilt is absolutely outstanding and so deserving of your awards! Congrats. I can see that you crosshatched in the borders, but I cannot tell if you did anything in the blocks besides outlining. Do you mind telling how you quilted the blocks. I am in the midst of handquilting now. I am first outlining everything very close to each object.

  9. TexasJane, I only outlined the appliques in the blocks. I also entered the quilt in Road to California and it didn't win a reward. The critque was it needed more quilting in the blocks so maybe someday I'll go back and add more quilting. I'm just glad to get a second place ribbon and it's done. So go ahead and quilt more in the blocks.

  10. Linda, thanks for the comments. The show was really nice. I was so surprised to get a reward much less one for handquilting. Good luck on your quilt.
