First Block

I started (unimaginatively) with Block One.  The colors are not as garish as they appear, but I can't seem to figure out how to adjust them - they are more warm -- the birds (with the stray thread, just noticed) are actually brown...  Very, very enjoyable process.  A friend from another blog sent me some fabrics to include both as support and because she wanted to be a part of this quilt without having to actually make one herself!

  2. I love your block. The reds and pinks really brighten it up. I don't think starting with block one is unimaginitive. I think it is a good way to tackle a large (very large!) project. The trick is getting to the next block, whether it's number 2 or another one. That's where I am stuck.

  3. Very pretty first block. I really like the fussy cutting on the flowers, vase, and base of the vase. Great start!

  5. Your colours are lovely, and the vase fabric particularly, I think starting with block 1 a good idea, otherwise it is easy to start with a favourite and work backwards, being left with blocks you do not enjoy doing at the end, Enjoy.

  6. Thanks to all of you for your helpful comments. I'm heeding your advice and immediately started my second block, not trying to think about how much is ahead of me other than for its pleasantries. For me this is a process focused quilt, not a completion goal objective.

  7. Really gorgeous. I love how you "fussy cut" the fabric for the vase and stand.

I don't think your colors are garish in the least. Lovely work.
