One question about block 8

I am working on block 8 right now, and have a question. It is marked 1, 2, 3, 4... on the pattern, some on the leaves, and some on the grapes. What does the number mean? Is it the order of which one I should start to applique first, or does it mean that the parts with the same number should have the same color? Can someone help me? Thank you :=)

  1. Lucia I think the leaves/grapes are just different sizes so hence the numbers to differentiate between them..

  2. I interpreted it to refer to the slight difference in sizes for the leaves and grapes. #3 grapes are smallest. #2 are largest while # 1 seems to be in the middle. On the leaves, #1 and 2 are very similar in shape as are 3 and 4 but the size is a bit different. All the #5 leaves are alike and the 6s are similar but slightly smaller. I think there is just one of #7.
