I'm still here!!!

Hello Brides,

Yes, I still am alive and kicking in Holland. Bet you all thought I had quit this fantastic project. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have finished the top and am doggedly quilting away. I want to work on this project during the EK soccer championship in June and WIll finish it before the EK is finished. I am on the 8th block, so I'm doing pretty good. I can't seem to upload a photo of my top will try again later. This message was just to let you know that I still am working on this great quilt.

Hi -- I am brand new to this; in fact, I have just ordered the pattern from Australia and am not sure when it will be received!    Am looking forward to sharing this journey with you.  Am very impressed with the beautiful blocks and quilts I've seen on the blog so far!

Saw the original quilt at a museum when I was a child, and fell in love with it!  Now, as an older adult and a long-time quilter, I'm looking forward to creating my own -- especially with the large black dogs, since I have had Newfoundlands for the past 30 years!  Annie

Block 15 done

This block was much easier than I expected, however I decided to do the feet and beak using blanket stitch.

.....Down on the farm

Went on a week long quilt retreat by the beach and finished two CWBQ blocks! I redrew the block with the farm animals to suit my version of the quilt.
Happy quilting!

My top is finished!!

I have finally finished my top. It took me longer than anticipated but I am very happy with the results. I did change the bottom border stightly - added more leaves as the empty branches looked sort of sad to me. But then, I changed things on the sides too. Now the quilting is all that remains. While it would be wonderful to hand quilt, I know that would take forever. So I plan to machine quilt it, stitching around all the spaces (yes there will be hundreds!) and then using a stitch to fill large open spaces. I hope to have it finished for a local guild quilt show in early August 2012. Wish me luck!! Judy E in Oklahoma

I am back with my 4th block :
I put it upside down because the bird looked less agressive than from the other side ..
No real difficulties for this block,
except to choose the fabric for the bird
because it is a big piece and
the fabric can be preponderant and too "strong" ..
compared to the rest of the block.
The 5th one is on the way already ...

groom block

I haven't worked on my blocks for a very long time. Seeing posts with completed quilts got me motivated again - thanks! Finally last night I finished my groom block. Well - sort of finished - he still needs some embroidery. He's supposed to helping his bride pick apples. I think He might also need something to stand on - opps :0)Only 5 more blocks to go and then the borders!
Happy Easter!
